A letter from N. Nikolov (in Italian), 6 September, 1939, Sofia.
The young Bulgarian student is Salvini’s friend. His letter is a
passionate description of the political and cultural situation in
Bulgaria. The corruption and the suppression of the ruling party make it
difficult for the intellectuals who do not want to obey. This, together
with the need for a more active cultural life, makes Nikolov decide to
graduate from political studies in Rome. He asks his friend to help him
finding all the necessary papers. In conclusion Nikolov wants Salvini to
assess his Italian and wonders what to do in return.
